This one. An AX, common once but I haven’t seen one in ages.
Let’s do a little unpacking.
It’s lhd, so foreign.
No plates
French. How can we tell without plates? Because it’s got an A for
apprenti
in the back window. It’s the French for an

.
Driver’s door forced open, air of dereliction. Abandoned then. Some French person came to live here with their old AX, it gave trouble, has absolutely zero resale value because lhd, left it by the road.
It was cheap, because it’s a 10RE, so 1.0 engine and base spec.
Allowing for the obvious damage the body is in surprisingly good condition for a notoriously flimsy car with no signs of rust from the outside.
Three stud wheels, because French.

They are really handsome little cars.

Hilarious cars to drive. They weigh next to nothing. But at ~30 years old, an economical value of almost nothing and thus being treated as disposable for 20 years, very few have survived.

I’m not sure why the French insist on three lug wheels for everything, at least back in the 80s and before. The only not French cars I can think of that have three lug wheels are the first and second gen Smart Fortwo/City Coupe/Cabrio and the Smart Roadster.
Just seems like it would end up being a nightmare to try and find aftermarket wheels.

Cheap! Small, light cars had them usually but not always. The Renault 18 had three stud wheels although I think they went to four for the US market
Funny you should call the Smarts non-French seeing as though they're made in Alsace...

Ah the memories. Never popular where I live but on our holidays in france they were about as common as dog shit on the side walk..so everywhere. Hard to think they’re all gone now
